Internships

Internships allow students to gain hands-on experience in career fields related to what they are studying. These are paid positions that typically occur during the summer semesters and may lead to job offers. They provide a great opportunity for students to explore their career interests before they graduate.

How do I get an internship?

The University provides many opportunities to help students find internships. The most effective way is by attending the Career Fair every fall semester. Information can be found on the Career Center website.

Opportunities are often posted in the CS This Week Newsletter that is sent to Computer Science students' emails. We also post them on our Student Employment webpage.

Companies come and speak at the college throughout the semester in Career Spotlight Events provided by the Engineering Leadership and Innovation Program. As part of the required course CIS 018 - Computer Science Professional Development Seminar, students are required to participate in various professional development activities such as the Career Spotlights.

Who gives internships?

There are many companies that provide internship opportunities. Computer Science students have received internships from companies like: Cerner, Honeywell, Garmin, Netsmart, Koch Industries, Amazon, ConocoPhillips, Thunderhead Engineering, Softek Illuminate, Hallmark, and Commerce Bank.
